I've visited Oban twice.  The first time was in 1999 on vacation with my sister.  We passed through quickly though to catch the ferry to the Isle of Mull.  The second time I was there was in 2001 by myself and I spent the night at a quaint B&B and walked around the town for several hours.  It's beautiful there and the best part was that I wasn't afraid to be a woman walking alone in a new place in a new country!  The next day I was back on the ferry and on my way to Iona for a six day stay at the Abby.  It was an experience I'll treasure for the rest of my life!

The picture is beautiful! Just as I remember it. It even shows the ferry that's escorted me to the Isle of Mull on two occasions! Thanks!

RE: Oban for Clyde - from Donna

Thanks so much, Donna, for the picture of Oban. I took one just about opposite of this looking back this way when I was there. It is such a lovely, lovely place.

I also took pictures (from a distance) of a place that I think was McQuag's Folly (or something near that). It was started as something of a Roman structure if I remember correctly. I have been sorry ever since that I did not go up near the building, but I was headed for Skye that morning . . . and was anxious to get there I suppose.

Hello George, i have just looked up your favourite "wee dram", in Australia you would be known as a "Top Shelf Man".
If a group were drinking in a school (a group of blokes drinking together, each one buys for the others in turn or what is known as a "shout"), you would be told to "Go Dutch", that is , stay out of the "school' and buy your own , Oh, by the way, nice photo. the photo I have attached is , I think, toby and some friends on a picnic in sweden.
