KETTLE OF FISH was the first of Nigel's books that I read. Although it is not as indepth as his others, it is still, in my opinion, a very enjoyable Historical novel with a delightful bit of humour. The Tweed fisheries Act of 1857 makes it illegal to fish for salmon in fifty square miles of open sea off the mouth of the Tweed river, save by the grace of the Tweed Commissioners_a ban not to the liking of the local fishermen. An exciting adventure story set against the authentic background of the Berwickshire and Northumbrian coasts and the ancient embattled town of Berwick-upon- Tweed.
I enjoyed 'Kettle of Fish' very much. When I read the synopsis, I didn't think I would, but that's Nigel for you! He could take any story and turn it into a "DON'T PUT ME DOWN!" book.
