FACT OF THE DAY

This is a famous day in world history. It is May Day. It was the day in 1522 that England declared war on France and Scotland. And the Scots declared civil war on this day in 1648. Most important to Scotland, though, the Treaty of Union, which famously bound this nation to England, came into effect exactly 300 years ago. The treaty comprises 25 separate articles.
