| Early reviews are in following the Edinburgh Festival premiere last month Well, I suppose I shouldnt be reading them, but since theyve been kind to us, have a read at your leisure:
| Seachds producer resigns from BAFTA after their strange Oscar snub Seachd has not been put forward by BAFTA as the UK's official non-English language Oscar nominee. You can read Scotland on Sundays initial article about BAFTAs strange decision here: http://news.scotsman.com/movies.cfm?id=1482232007 and after Chris Young, the producer of Seachd, resigned his BAFTA membership in protest, you can read their follow up today: http://scotlandonsunday.scotsman.com/entertainment.cfm?id=1560962007. You can also read Richard Brook's thoughts on the matter in today's Sunday Times here: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/film/article2541216.ece. Their decision was daft, but when someone very kind let me know on MySpace that the film was applauded after it played in the Screen Machine (a cinema in a lorry that brings films to the remoter parts of the Highlands and Isles of Scotland) last week in Lochmaddy, that "award" means so much more to me and to everyone who worked on the film.
| Your invite to a special Glasgow preview this Wednesday Aonghas Pādraig Caimbeul (who plays Grandfather) and I will be answering questions on the making of Seachd at a special preview screening next week in Glasgow at Cineworld, Renfrew Street on Wednesday 3rd October. I don't know the exact time yet (It's in the evening around 19:00 or 20:00), but please email rhianna@youngfilms.co.uk if you would like to come and for more information.
| Seachd is released in Scottish mainland cinemas from Friday 5th October Seachd will be released across the Highlands and Isles of Scotland before the rest of the UK on the "Screen Machine" (cinema in a lorry) travelling across the Highlands and Isles. Where else could we begin? From Friday 5th October the film will be released across mainland Scotland in the Cineworld and VUE chains. We'll be announcing the venues and dates for the rest of Scotland and the UK shortly. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to petition your local cinema in the UK (http://www.seachd.com/index_petitions.html) if you'd like to see the film near you.
Seachd will be shown internationally for the first time at the Vancouver and Rome film festivals in October - after which we hope to have more news on where you'll be able to catch Seachd outside the UK.
| The Guardians article on the Highlands and Islands premiere in Uist Kirsty Scott from The Guardian attended our special premiere that took place just a stones throw from the house of Pādruig Moireasdan, our lead child actor, on the Isle of Uist.
