FACT OF THE DAY Today in 1845 pneumatic tyres were patented by Scottish civil engineer Robert Thomson. The manufacture of the tyres was too expensive to catch on - that was left to fellow Scot John Boyd Dunlop in 1888. Read here for more on Scottish inventors __________________
