The Good Sir James

A few years ago I visited the tomb of The Good Sir James Douglas located in St Brides Kirk in Douglas. It was age cauld day in winter and my wife and I and the guide from the wee museum got locked inside the kirk, the door handle on the inside was missing. I managed to get us out by using the big key as a lever on the shaft of the lock and opened the door.

Sir James is one of my great heroes in Scottish history but I did not fancy spending the night with him in the freezing kirk.

Attached are a few of my photographs.

Andy Barclay FSA Scot.

No! I would not like to be locked in there. The third image is a beauty with a real scarey feel about it which reminds me to go and chase a few more cobwebs. Jane

It's hauntingly beautiful....in the day...with the door lock working properly. Thanks for the pictures!
